The capital club appointed Gasperini as head coach last summer, and he immediately guided the team to third place. As a result, Roma finally returned to the Champions League. The Italians opened their campaign with a draw away to Fenerbahce. They also battled Real Madrid for points but lost 3-4. At the same time, they did not drop points in Serie A until the penultimate round, when Inter fought back from 0-2 down. Their October meeting with Como ended goalless, although Malen's sending-off must be taken into account.
The Genoa side changed managers again in 2025/2026, and it helped: they finished sixteenth with 41 points. In the new season, they have won only in the cup, against Ascoli and Südtirol. The league campaign began with a string of defeats, alongside a 1-1 draw with newcomers Frosinone. After the break, they finally claimed a victory against Fiorentina, who had also endured a disastrous start, winning 2-1.
Roma are currently averaging 2.33 goals scored and far fewer conceded — just 0.5 per match. Their upcoming opponents score only 0.83 goals per game while conceding 1.83.
