Cagliari have won both of their opening matches of the season

The Sardinian club avoided their customary relegation battle last season. With 43 points, they finished in a comfortable fourteenth place. After the summer break, they started their cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over Arezzo. In Serie A, they surprisingly repeated that winning scoreline against Parma, this time at home.

The Milan giants appointed Chivu as their head coach a year ago, and they certainly made the right call: he eventually led his side to a domestic double. Their first opponent this season was Monza, and they had no trouble dealing with the newcomers, securing a convincing victory. The only blemish was allowing the underdogs to score a consolation goal, with Inter eventually winning 4-1.

The islanders scored just 1.05 goals per match last season while conceding a third more, 1.39. The champions posted excellent numbers on their way to the Scudetto: as many as 2.34 goals scored per game and only 0.92 conceded.

Previous matches: Cagliari vs Inter

In their last ten meetings, the Sardinian side managed to earn at least a draw against the giants only once, two seasons ago.

The hosts have looked solid, but their opponents are simply too strong and experienced. We expect the visitors to win this match even with a "-1.0 goal handicap" (odds – 1.69).
